Attempted Break-in

A resident in the 7300 block of Adams reported that someone damaged their front door frame and the door lock. The door remained locked and nothing was missing from the apartment.

Police saw a car stop at a closed, unlit Mobil gas station at 12:32 a.m., and when the driver got out the passenger moved into the driver's seat. Officers asked both people for their licenses, and a check revealed the original driver had a suspended license. Jorge Alejan Pita-Arellano, 31, of Berwyn, was cited for the suspended license and given a June 4 court date. The passenger was released.

Public Drinking

Robert E. Fitch, 51, of Chicago, was issued a local citation for public consumption of alcohol. Police said he was drining gin while sitting on a bus bench at Lathrop and Madison.
