1. Lincoln-Way East Student Council Collects Over 1,000 Pounds Of Food During Food Drive (patch.com) — Frankfort residents can take pride in Lincoln-Way East students, who collected more than 1,000 pounds of food for the Frankfort Food Pantry during a home football game promotion. Student Council President Samuel Vondrak says many classmates donated well beyond the minimum, and organizers hope to turn this into an annual community tradition supporting local families.
2. Free Community Shred Event Planned In Frankfort (patch.com) — Frankfort residents will have a chance to safely dispose of personal documents at a free community shred event hosted by Mayor Keith Ogle and the Village Board. The drive-thru service runs the morning of Sept. 19 at the Village Administration Building, with a two-box limit per vehicle and a warning that it may end early if the truck fills up.
3. Meet alpacas at Crystal Lake Alpaca Farm Day Sept. 5 (manisteenews.com) — Families in Frankfort can enjoy a free Alpaca Farm Day at Crystal Lake Alpaca Farm on Sept. 5, with activities running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4907 River Road. Kids and adults can meet alpacas and miniature donkeys, enjoy crafts, a bounce house, and learn how alpaca fiber becomes clothing as the farm marks its 25th anniversary.
4. 'Flock cameras' can stay on Will County highways in Naperville (nctv17.org) — Frankfort is among several Will County towns now cleared to place or keep license-plate-reading "Flock" cameras along county highways under newly approved agreements. County board members, police chiefs, and residents debated privacy, surveillance, and safeguards for about two hours before a slim majority backed the deals and pledged to craft an oversight ordinance.
