Chelsea, Hickory Creek Receive 'Exemplary' Rating On School Report Card
An exemplary rating is only given to the top 10 percent of all schools in the state, according to ISBE.
FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort District 157-C's Chelsea Intermediate School and Hickory Creek Middle School received "exemplary" designations from the Illinois State Board of Education school report cards.
The report card focuses on school performance data from the 2022-23 school year, Superintendent Doug Wernet said in a release.
"It is evident that our teachers, support staff and administrators, in partnership with families, continue to be incredibly successful in executing the mission of the school district," Wernet said.

Students achieved their highest ever marks on the ELA and math assessment for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness, which is given to students in third through eighth grade, according to the District.
82 percent of students met or exceeded grade level standards in ELA, and 72 percent of students met or exceeded standards in math, Wernet said.

An Illinois Science Assessment was also given to students in grades five and eight, and 79 percent of students were proficient.
"In the spring, 38.5 percent of our students scored in the exemplary category [on the science assessment]- this is more 157-C students than have ever achieved this performance indicator," Wernet said.
