In an alert sent out Thursday night, police asked residents to check any garages, sheds or outdoor structures on their property.

Volunteers who would like to assist in the search for Joey are asked to meet at the Grand Prairie Elementary School, 10480 Nebraska.

"Volunteers on our missing child case. Please meet at Grand Prairie Elementary School to stage for a search," police said in an update. "We will be handing out maps with locations to search, but we need everyone to be patient and to just hold in place. We do not want people searching at this point on foot so our canines can do their job. We appreciate all of everyone’s help and collaboration in searching for Joey."

Police were searching for the missing boy using K-9s late Thursday.

"We have a large number of individuals volunteering to assist," police said on Facebook. "At this time, we need volunteers to stay in their vehicles so the K9's can do their job."
