Christmas, Holiday Events In Frankfort: Tree Lighting, Santa Visit
There is lots to do in Frankfort in the lead-up to the holidays.
FRANKFORT, IL — There is no shortage of things to do in Frankfort to get the winter holiday season off to a rollicking good start.
Christmas and Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights, intersect this year, with Hanukkah running Dec. 18-26. Christmas, of course, is on Dec. 25, but you don’t have to wait to start taking in all the sights and sounds of the holidays.
The Lighting of the Green on Dec. 1 will kick off the holiday season in Frankfort. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 at Breidert Green, 7 Kansas St.

Those who attend the event can enjoy live music performances by The Black Willow Brass Quintet and the Hickory Creek Middle School Choir.
There will also be a countdown to the tree lighting, and visits with Santa, Mrs. Claus and The Grinch, according to the Village. Decorated police, fire and public works vehicles will also be on display.

You can also celebrate the holidays with Reindeer on the Green and Caroling on the Green from noon to 2 p.m. on Dec. 10. It is a free event for all ages.
Two Alaskan Reindeer will be at Breidert Green, and guests can also sing along with Frankfort Girls Scouts Service Unit 718.
There will also be live holiday music by The Black Willow Brass Quintet, a trackless holiday train, a reindeer craft sponsored by the Frankfort Arts Association, and a chance to mix up magical reindeer food.
The Girl Scouts will also hold a Christmas market, and a coat, hat and glove drive.
