Community Prayer Vigil Planned In Frankfort On Friday

FRANKFORT, IL — A community prayer vigil is planned Friday in Frankfort at Breidert Green.

A flyer is circulating on social media for the event, which states, "Our community has been through a lot in the last few months. Join your neighbors for an evening of prayer, reflection, remembrance and hope."

The vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Friday on Breidert Green.

The planned event comes after the murder of 2-year-old Barrett Walsh on Sept. 1, and the death of Grand Prairie Elementary student Jenna Menias, 6, who was hit by a school bus on Tuesday.

"It's about praying for each other, our children, our schools, our first responders, our families, our leaders, and everyone in our community who needs comfort, healing, strength or hope," the event flyer shares.

Frankfort Mayor Keith Ogle shared the flyer about the vigil as well, and added, "Now, more than ever, we have an opportunity to come together, to lift one another up, and to remind each other that no one stands alone."
