Coronavirus: Frankfort Mayor Says A 'Number' Of Cases In Town

The village is making tables, chairs, benches, the gazebo and the playground in downtown Frankfort temporarily unusable.

FRANKFORT, IL — In a message shared April 3, Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland said the village is making tables, chairs, benches, the gazebo and the playground in downtown Frankfort temporarily unusable in an effort to practice social distancing.

"We are going to have non-police employees patrol the downtown area to remind people about social distancing, which is staying six feet away from someone who does not live in your home," Holland said.

In his message, Holland confirmed that Frankfort has a "number" of coronavirus cases.

"Some Frankfort residents are currently in hospitals on respirators," Holland said. "This dangerous disease is here and spreading."

The bike trail which goes through downtown Frankfort remains open, but it is ten feet wide.

Holland said people should pass each other single file while walking or riding right on opposite edges of the trail. If you're walking on the sidewalk, which is only three feet wide, one party must walk into the grass or the street if you're passing each other.
