Driver At Fault In Crash That Hurt Motorcyclist: Police

An accident report from a crash between a car and motorcycle on Route 30 has been released.

FRANKFORT, IL -- The driver of a 2011 Nissan Murano is blamed for a crash that injured a Frankfort man on a motorcycle last week. Police released the details from an accident at Route 30/Lincoln Highway and 108th Avenue on July 19 after a Freedom of Information request from Frankfort Patch.

Emergency response teams arrived at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and 108th Avenue at 6:23 a.m. on Wednesday and began treating the driver of the motorcycle, who was taken to Silver Cross Hospital with a head injury and other injuries, according to the accident report.

An investigation revealed that the driver of an AMF XL Series 2007 motorcycle was headed east in the inner lane of Lincoln Highway when he approached the intersection at 108th. The driver of the Nissan, a man from Frankfort, was stopped at a stop sign northbound on 108th before attempting to turn westbound on Lincoln.

The driver of the car began to travel north while the driver of the motorcycle hit the front driver’s side of the car, the report states. A witness told police that she saw the car pull in front of the motorcycle at the intersection before making a lane change.

The Nissan driver was “at fault for failure to yield at the intersection,” according to the report.
