The man bought the ticket at a gas station in Mokena.

A Frankfort man is $500,000 richer after trying his luck with the Lucky Day Lotto.
Michael Jeffers bought the winning ticket for the May 28 drawing at a Mokena gas station. His ticket matched all five numbers: 16, 18, 23, 28, 29, according to a statement from Illinois Lottery.
The day after the drawing, Jeffers went back to the station where he purchased the ticket, and used the self-service scanner to check his ticket. The message ‘file a claim’ appeared on the screen. He asked the clerk to double-check the ticket.

“The clerk gave me a surprised look and said, ‘You won half a million dollars!’ Some customers heard him and yelled, ‘Sign the back of your ticket right now!’” he said laughingly. Jeffers plans to invest his winnings.
The winning ticket was purchased at Speedway, 18701 Wolf Road in Mokena. The retailer received a bonus of $5,000, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket. Lucky Day Lotto drawings are twice a day, seven days a week.
