Garbage Fee Coming to Frankfort
Village officials have opted to enact a $13.62 monthly fee for garbage services.

FRANKFORT, IL — Residents of Frankfort will likely soon be forced to pay for their own trash service. Village officials are in the process of enacting a measure that will do away with the complimentary service, Assistant Village Administrator Rob Piscia said.
Piscia said that Frankfort is currently one of the only communities that absorbs that cost for its residents, but "revenue sources flattening out" has caused the need for a change. The village's finance committee has already recommended approval of the $13.62 a month charge and the village board could vote to make it official as early as June, Piscia said.
If approved, the additional fee will be added on to property owner's water bills.

Piscia said the other option -- having NuWay Disposal handle the billing -- would likely have meant greater costs for residents.
"It would more than likely be more expensive that way since a new bill would have to be made and there would be fees associated with that," said Piscia, who will soon take over as village administrator. READ MORE: Jerry Ducay Leaving Frankfort After 18 Years
