Lincoln-Way East Scholastic Bowl Heads To Sectional Competition

FRANKFORT, IL — Lincoln-Way East High School's Scholastic Bowl team is headed to IHSA sectional competition on Saturday after winning regional competition earlier this week.

The team defeated Stagg (520-260), Tinley Park (600-170), and Lemont for the regional championship (530-250), according to the District.

"We are having a tremendous season. This group of players has worked so hard this past year, and it's exciting to see their hard work payoff. We've been able to qualify for new tournaments and the experiences of elite competition," Scholastic Bowl Coach Matthew Jordan told Patch.

The team won the Masonic Academic Bowl Sectional Tournament for the first time in school history, Jordan said.

"We will also be playing in the National Scholastic Championship tournament in June for the first time," Jordan said.

The team is now focused on the IHSA sectional tournament on Saturday. According to the IHSA website, Frankfort will face Lincoln-Way Central, Homewood-Flossmoor and Sandburg in sectional competition.

"This group is made up of a widely talented group, from senior leaders to incredibly gifted sophomores and freshmen," Jordan said. "We are certainly enjoying every moment of this playoff push, and look forward to where this goes."
