Frankfort, Frankfort Square, and Tinley Park voters will decide Tuesday whether the Frankfort Square Park District should issue $3.5 million in bonds to buy, maintain, and improve the district's land and facilities.
The proposed “Moving Forward” referendum "would enable the completion of a variety of improvements at every park within our District. It will also provide long-term funding through existing debt reduction, allowing for scheduled replacement of playgrounds and other park amenities in the future."

If passed, residents would see a tax increase of approximately $3.33 per month, or $40.00 per year on a home valued at $250,000, incrementally more or less, based on home value.
The referendum specifically asks:
Shall bonds of the Frankfort Square Park District, Will and Cook Counties, Illinois, to the amount of Three Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($3,500,000) be issued for the payment of land purchased for parks, for the building, maintaining, improving and protecting of the same and the existing land and facilities of said Park District, to provide for the permanent financing therefor, and for the payment of expenses incident thereto?
Voters in Illinois headed to the polls at 6 a.m. and will continue voting through 7 p.m.
