Nonfiction at Night Book Discussion Group

Nonfiction at Night reads Being Mortal by Atul Gwande Monday, June 13 @ 7 PM.

Join us on Monday evenings to discuss a broad selection of nonfiction. This month's selection is Being mortal: medicine and what matters in the end by Atul Gawande. Gawande, a surgeon, examines aging and death in 21st-century America. Modern medicine can perform miracles, but it is also only concerned with preserving life rather than dealing with end-of-life issues. Drawing on his experiences helping terminally ill patients, Gawande offers a timely account of how modern Americans cope with decline and mortality. Copies of this month’s selection will be available at the library. Call 815-534-6173 for more information, or to register.
