Operation Playground Foundation to Hold First Annual Golf Tournament
Proceeds To Help Fund New Basketball Courts in Frankfort
Operation Playground Foundation invites golfers to sign up for the First Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, October 4, 2013, to be held at The Sanctuary Golf Club, 485 North Marley Road, New Lenox, 1:00 pm shotgun start. Registration includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, on-course refreshments, dinner, awards and prizes. Proceeds will be used to help fund two new basketball half courts that are being planned for fall construction at Frankfort’s Main Park.
“Offering our local youth and adults another opportunity to fill their time and talent with a constructive activity benefits them in many ways as well as the entire community,” says Phil Simmons, President, Operation Playground. “In addition, we envision the courts will provide a venue for open play and future three-on-three tournaments for local youth to participate in. We hope the community will get involved and help support our inaugural golf event,” says Simmons.
Operation Playground is also accepting event sponsorships and prize donations from local businesses. About Operation Playground, Inc.
Operation Playground, Inc. is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and was established in 2000 by a group of volunteers in Frankfort, Ill. Its mission is to enhance Frankfort parks, working in collaboration with community citizens and the Frankfort Park District. Local businesses and residents contribute their time and talent to help complete projects without spending tax dollars. Its two major projects have been Fort Frankfort and Frankfort Bark Park, both located within Commissioners Park.
