Petition Filing Begins For Frankfort School Board Candidates

The election is April 4, 2023.

FRANKFORT, IL — Petition filing for school board candidates has started at the Will County Clerk's Office for the April 4 consolidated election.

The clerk's office accepts nominating petitions for local school boards and the Will County Regional Office of Education. Candidates for village boards, park district boards and library boards would file with the clerks for those agencies, the Clerk's office said in a news release.

Petition filing opened Monday and will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 19.

According to the Clerk's office, petitions can be filed in person at the Will County Clerk’s Office or mailed to 302 N. Chicago St., Joliet, IL 60432. Petitions received in the mail before Dec. 12 will not be accepted, nor will they be accepted if they arrive at the Will County Clerk’s Office after 5 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Filing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. each, the Clerk's office said. Staff notaries will be available to notarize petitions prior to filing or during the filing process, and will be available to file required statements of economic interest.

In Frankfort, several positions in local school boards are up for election, including:

  • Three school board member positions for Summit Hill District 161
  • Four school board member positions for Frankfort District 157-C
  • Four school board member positions for Lincoln-Way District 210
