PHOTOS: Fair Shows Residents There Are Artists Among Them

About 25 painters, sculptors, illustrators and other artists participated in the Frankfort Fine Arts Festival on Saturday at Breidert Green. Check out some of the images from the event and share your own.

The best part of the Frankfort Fine Arts Fair for Dorothy Sandlin, a pastel artist who's attended the annual event since its third year, is the way it showcases a part of the community that people aren't readily aware exists.

"[The fair] is a really nice thing," said Sandlin, who sat at her booth Saturday, June 23, with her husband, Michael Liazich (Sandlin uses her maiden name for her art). "It lets people in Frankfort know that there are artists among them."

About 25 artists participated in the fair, which brought people from around the area to downtown Frankfort to check out the artwork on display and on sale. There also was a wine-tasting tent sponsored by , and live music on Breidert Green stage throughout the afternoon.

Some fair attendees, however, appreciated the art more than others. Take Charlie, for instance, the 41-year-old parrot owned by Frankfort resident Dee Dee Patrick. He was

"He likes the attention. He loves people," Patrick said, adding that when Charlie's in town—he winters in Arizona—she brings him to outdoor events like the Fine Arts Fair. "He's really good, but he's a bit of a mama's boy. He's like the kid who's never moved out."
