• Herbs and spices 101 comes to Freeport with June 10 cooking class (journalstandard.com) — Freeport residents can sign up now for a June 10 “Culinary Herbs 101” class at the Senior Resource Center on East Stephenson Street, running from 1 to 3 p.m. Hosted by University of Illinois Extension, the session covers choosing, storing, and cooking with herbs and spices, includes samples and take-home recipes, and requires advance registration by phone or online. 
• Stephenson Co. fatal crash under investigation (themonroetimes.com) — A Stephenson County driver has died after a single-vehicle rollover crash near E. Winneshiek and N. Farwell Bridge roads, in a case now under investigation by local authorities. Responders from the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office and Pecatonica Fire Protection District were called Friday morning, and the driver later died at a Rockford hospital. Officials are withholding the victim’s name pending family notification.
