ā¢ GoFundMe launched to help Freeport's Royal Oaks recovery after storm (rrstar.com) ā A longtime Freeport antique shop, Royal Oaks Antiques & Collectables, has been condemned after an April 14 storm caused its front to collapse, leaving owners Steve and Karen Schlamp without their primary income. A community GoFundMe is now raising money for cleanup, repairs, and the coupleās living expenses so they can eventually reopen the beloved local business.

ā¢ Illinois awards $325K for America 250 public art (rrstar.com) ā Freeport is getting a $15,000 state grant for a new public art project marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, awarded to the Freeport Arts Center. The funding is part of more than $325,000 shared by 22 Illinois communities, aiming to create lasting public artworks that celebrate local stories, creativity, and civic pride. Ā Ā Ā
