122 Tickets Issued In Lake Co. Distracted Driving Campaign

The Lake County Sheriff's Office took part in the two-week campaign from April 16 to 30.

The Lake County Sheriff’ Office issued 122 citations during a statewide distracted driving campaign held in April. The increased enforcement was part of the national Distracted Driving Awareness Month effort supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation, according to a news release.

“Driver distraction is a persistent issue in Lake County and often has life-altering consequences,” said Sheriff Curran. “We implemented this enforcement action to encourage motorists to drop it and drive.”

During the two-week campaign that ran April 16 to 30, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued citations for the following offenses:

  • 94 electronic communication device citations
  • 5 suspended/revoked licenses arrests/citations
  • 7 uninsured motorists arrests/citations
  • 16 other citations
