2 Killed, 2 Injured In 3-Car Crash In Kane County: Police

A 25-year-old Rockford woman and her passenger were killed after their car ran a red light in Geneva, according to police.

GENEVA, IL — A fatal three-car crash in Geneva early Saturday claimed the lives of two people and injured two others, according to authorities.

The crash happened at 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Kirk Road and Fabyan Parkway, Geneva police said in a news release. According to authorities, a 2016 Dodge Charger was traveling westbound on Fabyan Parkway when the driver ran a red traffic light at Kirk Road. The Charger then collided with a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe heading southbound on Kirk Road, police said.

After the first collision, the Dodge Charger was forced into a second accident with a tow truck driver, who was in a left-hand turn lane on Fabyan Parkway waiting to turn north on Kirk Road.

The driver of the Dodge Charger, a 25-year-old Rockford woman, and an unidentified female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 50-year-old North Aurora man, was airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Police said he is in critical condition.

The tow truck driver, a 31-year-old Batavia man, was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from the hospital, according to police.

Names of the victims have not been released pending notification of family, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
