GENEVA, IL — Two infrastructure projects will begin in October along Route 25 in Geneva, officials said.

The primary project — installing a new water main — will begin Oct. 3. It will require the state route to close from State to Jefferson streets for the construction's two-month duration, weather permitting.

The second project focuses on replacing an existing water main at the intersection of Route 25 and Division Street. The work, being done in preparation for a full water main replacement in 2024, is expected to take one week to complete, officials said.

The Illinois Department of Transportation approved a detour that will direct northbound Route 25 traffic — including truck drivers — east on Fabyan Parkway, north on Kirk Road and west on Main Street in St. Charles. The route is reversed for southbound traffic.

During construction, garbage collection and mail delivery will continue as it usually does for customers along Route 25.
