• Batavia, Geneva high schools receive threats, but officials find no credible evidence (shawlocal.com) — Geneva High School received a phoned-in threat today, but police and school officials quickly investigated, found no credible danger, and returned the building to normal operations under a Secure Protocol. Families will see extra police presence around campus as investigators work to identify who made the call, while similar unfounded threats have recently hit Batavia and Bartlett high schools.
• St. Charles East, Geneva boys soccer tally three goals apiece in rivalry wins (shawlocal.com) — Geneva High's boys soccer team extended its strong season with a 3-1 rivalry win over Batavia, powered by two goals from senior forward Gabe Barwiolek and another from Hunter Clemons. Played on Geneva's home field during Tri-Cities Night, the victory keeps the Vikings atop the DuKane Conference and showcases the high expectations driving this year's squad.
• GOP hopes to stay competitive in 33rd State Senate race (chronicleillinois.com) — Geneva voters are in the spotlight as the open 33rd State Senate seat, which includes Geneva and nearby suburbs, becomes one of Illinois' most competitive races. Republican Danielle Penman and Democrat Michele Clark are drawing heavy party and union support, with spending and strategy ramping up as both sides fight to keep or flip this increasingly Democratic-leaning district.
