Janet Mazur died unexpectedly March 24, 2011.
Born March 10, 1949, Ms. Mazur grew up in Wheaton. She had a successful career as a medical billing consultant. She enjoyed teaching advanced medical coding strategies to hospitals throughout the nation. Ms. Mazur’s greatest success was her ability to balance the demands of a full time career while still being a full-time mom.
Well known for her generous heart and benevolent spirit, Ms. Mazur dedicated her life to her family. Always putting her children before herself, her two sons were her entire life. She always seemed to know just what they needed; whether it was a shoulder to cry on, a wise piece of advice, or on occasion, a shove in the right direction. Her motherly instincts were impeccable. She often said with beaming pride that she didn’t raise sons, she raised heroes.
And although she felt truly blessed to be a mother, there was no comparable joy to being Nana. She had the joy of having four grandchildren and with each new little life her heart grew that much more. She would often take her oldest granddaughter to the movies and would delight in showing her two youngest granddaughters how to bake. Her grandchildren were her happiness and her hope.
Ms. Mazur is preceded in death by her parents and niece Lynn. She is survived by her sister Kathy; niece Patti (Brian) and two great-nieces, Megan and Rachel; her sons Rick (Lisa) & Tommy (Tiffany) and her four grandchildren Kailey, Grace, Kloey; and Luke.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., March 30, at St. John Neumann Church, 2900 East Main Street, St. Charles. Following the service, she will be buried at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
