Author Barbara Bond's WGN Midday News Spot Cancelled, But Book Signing Still a 'Go'

Barbara Bond is promoting her new book, "Take a Hike Chicago," and will be at the Morton Arboretum.

UPDATE—Former Geneva resident Barbara Bond was supposed "Take a Hike" on WGN Thursday, but her segment had to "Take a Hike" instead. She was scheduled to appear on WGN Midday News.

The good news is that her book signing Saturday at the Morton Arboretum is still a "go." She'll be there from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Her new book, Take a Hike Chicago, lets readers in on the best places to hike in the Chicago area—all within two hours of the city and one as close as Batavia.

Bond is a freelance writer and photographer whose articles, book chapters, and photographs have appeared in a wide variety of publications since 1987, Bond's website says. She lived in Geneva from 2008 until late June, served on the Geneva Park Foundation Board and was involved with the Geneva Green Market and a member of Fox River Trail Runners.

There's a really nice feature story about her on "Go West Young Mom" website. In that article, she mentions that one of her favorite hiking places for children is the Dick Young Forest Preserve west of  Batavia.
