Batavia Motorcyclist Killed In Geneva Crash

A 45-year-old Batavia man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Geneva. The man's motorcycle went off the roadway in the 1300 block of West State Street at 12:05 a.m. Monday and struck a light pole and two trees, according to authorities.

Police originally responded to the area after receiving a report of a suspicious noise.

When they arrived at the scene, they found the crash victim.

Emergency personnel tried to save John Akin, of the 300 block if Douglas Avenue, but Akin was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the Geneva Police Department.

Akin was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
