City Approves New 5-Year Contract With Current Refuse Collector
Collection dates and service will remain the same as part of the new contract, but there are new rates for stickers and cart service.
GENEVA, IL — Geneva City Council approved on Monday a new five-year contract with its current refuse collector, Lakeshore Recycling Systems.
Collection dates and service will remain the same as part of the new contract, which will run from July 2023 to June 30, 2028.
Residents can continue to dispose of trash with a "pay as you throw" model using waste stickers or subscribe to their existing garbage cart. Existing recycling carts will remain as well.

The start of the new contract means new rates for stickers and cart service, though.
Updated prices for waste stickers and 20-gallon bags will go into effect July 1 and will increase incrementally each year until 2028. Starting in July, a waste sticker will cost $3.95, and a 20-gallon bag will run residents $2.50.

The current light blue stickers with an expiration date of June 30, 2023, will be valid through July 31, 2023.
City and LRS staff are working to establish a waste sticker exchange program to allow residents to trade in their existing, expiring stickers for new ones. Officials said details will be announced later in June.
Geneva's refuse services also include yard waste pickup, a food scrap program and electronics recycling.
Residents with questions about the program are directed to contact LRS customer service at 844-633-3577 or service@LRSrecycles.com.
