Concours D'Elegance Will Impact Downtown Geneva Roads

Several streets will close to traffic for the majority of the day to accommodate the collection of antique, classic and modern cars.

GENEVA, IL — Concours D'Elegance will pack downtown Geneva streets Aug. 27. To accommodate the collection of antique, classic and modern cars, a few roads will be closed to traffic for a majority of the day, police said.

The free car showcase will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Third Street.

The Geneva Police Department will implement a series of temporary parking restrictions beginning at 11:59 p.m. Aug. 26 and street closures starting at 4 a.m. Aug. 27.

Here is a look at what closures to anticipate:

  • Third Street from State to South streets
  • Fourth Street from State to Franklin streets
  • James and Campbell streets from Second to Fifth streets
  • Franklin and Fulton streets from Second to Fourth streets
  • 100 block of Fulton Street (only from 4-9 a.m.)

Parking will be restricted on Third Street from State to South streets, in the 200 and 300 block of all cross streets with South Third Street, and in the 100 block of Fulton Street. Cars will only be allowed to park on one side of the street in the 400, 500 and 600 blocks of all cross streets with South Third Street.

"No parking" signs will be posted in the morning Aug. 26 to notify downtown residents and visitors of forthcoming restrictions. If cars remain parked during the affected periods, the police department will have them towed, officials said.

Drivers not headed downtown should consider alternate routes the day of the event, police said, including Route 25 or Kirk Road. Second Street will serve as the only detour for local traffic.

All streets are expected to reopen to drivers by 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
