Contaminant Found In Ground Water Near Geneva

Residents living in the affected area will be able to hook up to the city's water at no cost.

GENEVA, IL — A group of residents living outside the city’s limits will be able to hook up to Geneva city water at no cost after a contaminant, possibly a carcinogen, was found in the ground water, according to the Daily Herald. Waste Management of Illinois will pay for the water hookups.

The contaminant 1,4-dioxane was detected in 2017 and the affected area is bordered by the Union Pacific Railroad tracks on the north, Kirk Road on the east, Fabyan Parkway on the south and Settler's Hill Golf Course on the west, according to the article.
