Disabled Train Blocking Western Avenue Crossing in Geneva

GENEVA, IL -- The Western Avenue train track grade crossing in Geneva has been blocked since about 5 a.m. on Feb. 6 after a train experienced a mechanical failure. Motorists are encouraged to use Randall Road or Third Street as alternate routes, city officials said. Other options include Peck Road, Route 31, Route 25 or Kirk Road.

Efforts are being made to address the disabled train, but there is no estimated time of when the crossing will be cleared, according to the city of Geneva news release.
