Be honest. Do you know the proper way to dispose of batteries in St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia?
Well, here's what the Kane County Green Guide has to say about it, courtesy of the Kane County Division of Environmental Resources. (Be honest. Did you even know there was a Kane County Division of Environmental Resources?)
The best way to reduce waste is to invest in a battery charger and rechargeable batteries. Rechargeable batteries make better use of resources, because you can use them multiple times before recycling them! And they are recyclable at most hardware stores.

- Tape over the tops of all 9V batteries as they are a potential fire hazard.
- Place used batteries in a clear resealable plastic bag.
- Place bagged batteries on the ground next to your recycling bin, or with lidded carts, place the bag on top of your recycling cart.
Do not include auto batteries. Battery drop-off locations are open 24/7 unless otherwise indicated.
