GENEVA - A 32-year-old Batavia man has been charged with felony obstruction of a police officer for causing a disturbance that resulted in a Geneva police officer injuring his hand while trying to take him into custody, according to the Kane County Chronicle. Matthew J. Fligelman, of the 300 block of North Batavia Avenue in Batavia, is free on bail following his arrest on Dec. 10.
Police said Fligelman went on a profane tirade and was belligerent with an officer after police were called to a fight in progress in the 100 block of West State Street in Geneva, according to the article. Fligelman resisted when officers attempted to take him into custody for public intoxication and an officer’s right hand was cut.
