Employee Trapped In Machine At Construction Firm Dies: Geneva FD

The person, who officials haven't publicly identified, was pulled from the machinery before fire firefighters arrived at the scene Thursday.

GENEVA, IL — An employee at a Geneva metal construction company died Dec. 9 after firefighters found the person trapped in a piece of a machinery, the Geneva Fire Department said Monday.

The employee, who worked at Bar Technologies, located at 500 Fluid Power Drive, was removed from the machine by coworkers before the fire department arrived. The person was treated at the scene before taken to Northwestern Delnor Hospital, where they were pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. the same day.

Officials haven't released the name of the employee as of Monday.

The incident is still under investigation by the Geneva Police Department, Kane County Coroner and the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration, officials said.

The St. Charles and Batavia fire departments, as well as the Geneva Police Department, assisted Geneva firefighters on the scene.
