Ex-Doc Accused of Sex Crime Now Accused in Drug Crime

Bail for man with Geneva and St. Charles ties was set at $1 million Friday.

A former doctor from Geneva accused of sex assault last year now faces drug charges, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, and his bond on the sex crime charges was revoked on Friday.

On Thursday, May 7, officer from the North Central Narcotics Task Force found 199 marijuana plants in the St. Charles home of Mark Lewis, on Squire Lane, as well as a handgun, ammo and 11,722 grams of process pot. Lewis, 55, is charged with one count each of unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis and production of cannabis plants, He also is charged with possessing a firearm with a revoked FOID card and possessing firearm ammunition without a FOID card.

The street value of the seized marijuana and plants is estimated at more than $600,000. A $1 million bail was set Friday on the drug charges.

Last July, Lewis was arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his home in Geneva following a house party in November 2012.
His medical license was suspended in June 2014 by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation because he had “engaged in sexually inappropriate conduct with several patients of his medical practice.”
