Festival Of The Vine Returns For 3 Days: Road Closures Planned

This fall will mark the second time the Festival of the Vine is being held on James Street between Fourth and Fifth streets.

GENEVA, IL — Festival of the Vine will return to the streets of Geneva Sept. 8-10.

The autumn harvest celebration — which began as a celebration of anything grown on a vine and now revolves around food and wine — will feature fine restaurants, an arts and crafts show, merchant wine events, business booths, activities for kids and horse-drawn carriage rides.

This fall will mark the second time the event is being held on James Street between Fourth and Fifth streets. Previous festivals were held on State Street, Patch reported.

Ahead of the event, Geneva police are reminding the public of various road closures that will be implemented.

Beginning Sept. 6, these streets will close:

  • James Street in the middle of the 300 block to Fifth Street
  • Fourth Street in the middle of the 0 to 100 block to James Street

Parking restrictions on James and Fourth streets will begin after 11:59 p.m. Sept. 5.

Starting on Sept. 9, Campbell Street will be shut down from Third to Fourth streets. Parking restrictions on Campbell Street will begin after 11:59 p.m. Sept. 8.

Parking lot access to local businesses will remain open on James and Fourth streets.

Late on Sept. 7, more parking restrictions will go into effect:

  • Both sides of Fifth Street from State (Route 38) to Campbell streets
  • Five spots on the south side of James Street west of Third Street
  • 400 block of Campbell Street (south side only)
  • 200 block of Fourth Street (west side only)

All closures and parking restrictions will remain until Festival of the Vine concludes Sept. 10. "No parking" signs will be posted on wooden stakes and should not be removed, police said. Vehicles that remain parked in the restricted areas may be ticketed, towed or both.

"The Geneva Police Department appreciates the public's patience and hopes everyone has a safe and enjoyable festival experience," officials said in a news release.
