Final Mill Race Inn Building Granted Landmark Status
The vote by the Geneva City Council in favor of making the building a local landmark will make it harder for Shodeen to tear it down.

GENEVA, IL – The final building, a small limestone structure, on the Mill Race Inn property was made a local landmark Monday, making it more difficult for the site's owner, the Shodeen Family Foundation, to raze it, according to the Daily Herald. Fred Zinke, a Geneva resident who is married to a member of the Historic Preservation Commission, requested city officials consider granting the building landmark status after Shodeen filed for a demolition permit in December. The Geneva City Council on Monday voted 9-1 in favor of the landmark status, which means Shodeen will now need to get permission from Geneva's Historic Preservation Committee if they want to tear the building down, according to the article
