Garbage Rates Set to Increase in Geneva in July

As part of Geneva's contract with Lakeshore Recycling Systems, rates will be going up starting on July 1, city officials said.

GENEVA, IL -- The cost of garbage collection rates are set to increase starting in July, city officials said. The rates will be adjusted starting on Monday, July 1 as part of the city’s contract with Lakeshore Recycling Systems, according to a news release from the city of Geneva. A refuse sticker will now cost $2.72.

However, Geneva residents who purchased stickers at the previous rate of $2.60 can use their remaining supply without paying the difference, city officials said. Prices for optional garbage cart subscriptions also will increase by less than a dollar per billing cycle, according to the contract.

"Even with the rate adjustments, Geneva residents will continue to pay less for stickers and cart service at the conclusion of the Lakeshore contract in 2023 than they did in spring 2018," according to a news release from the city of Geneva.
