Geneva alderman recommended the city council adopt the requirement.

GENEVA, IL -- The Geneva City Council is expected to vote in coming months on whether to require new homes to be built with fire sprinklers, according to the Daily Herald. On Monday, alderman recommended adopting the 2015 version of the International Residential Code, which calls for one- and two-family buildings to have fire-suppression sprinklers. If approved, the sprinkler requirement would not take effect until Dec. 30, 2019, the Daily Herald reports.
