Geneva Garage Severely Damaged In Fire

The blaze broke out Thursday evening on the city's east side.

GENEVA, IL -- No one was injured in a fire that started in a detached garage in Geneva on Thursday evening, fire officials said. The Geneva Fire Department was called to the blaze at 1022 Geneva Drive on the city's east side at about 6:16 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a two-car garage fully engulfed in flames, according to a news release from the city of Geneva.

The siding on the garage directly to the east was starting to melt as well, according to a news release.

No houses or additional structures were affected by the blaze, according to fire officials. There were no cars parked in the garage at the time of the fire.

The two-car garage was severely damaged and all the contest inside the garage are being deemed a total loss. The neighboring garage also suffered minor exterior heat damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
