The girls basketball team clinches the conference championship Friday night with a win over St. Charles East.

With a big 66-33 win over St. Charles East on Friday night, the Geneva girls basketball team went 11-1 in the Upstate Eight River Division and earned the conference championship on Senior Recognition night.

The Vikings honored the eight seniors who played their last game on their home court: Kat Yelle, Kelsey Pease, Andrea Connelly, Alison Conelly, Dori Rogers, Katelyn Allen, Brooke Binette, and Sammy Scofield all will graduate this year.

After the first quarter, Geneva was leading 25-5. From there, the Vikings continued to rack up points and headed into the second half with a 36-16 lead.

"This was a really exciting game," said coach Gina Nolan. "I am so happy for all of the kids, especially the seniors. It was great to see them all play and contribute."

Dori Rogers, a senior who has played basketball for Geneva for four years, has had three big games in a row coming off the bench. On Friday, Rogers hit a three-point shot right at the end of the game for her last basket of her high school regular season.

"It was a really fun night," Rogers said. "I am going to really miss playing with this team. I wouldn't have chosen any other team to go through this experience with. I was so relieved I scored at the end."

Everyone was able to get into the game, and the seniors received extra playing time because of the special night.

"It was great that everyone played well and contributed," Rogers said. "We had a great game and everyone was so supportive."

With a conference title in hand, Geneva is now focusing on the post-season and the regional title.

The Vikings play next at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles East against the winner of the St. Charles East and Batavia game.
