Geneva Police Give Crime Prevention Tips After Recent Increase of Theft and Burglaries
Geneva Police reported an increase in thefts and burglaries at locations throughout the City in Aug.

On Wednesday, the Geneva Police Department posted tips advising residents how to prevent neighborhood crime after a reported increase in thefts and burglaries from unlocked cars and homes occurred at locations spread throughout the City in Aug.
Residents should always lock their vehicle and remove valuables like iPods, purses, keys, computers, etc. from inside.
Geneva Police also urges residents to make sure their garage doors are closed and secured, as well as the doors and windows to their homes. Outdoor lighting can act as a deterrent in some cases since many car burglaries occur in the dark, so residents should leave outdoor lights on around their homes.

These incidents have occurred both during the day and night, police said, so exceed caution even during the daytime.
All residents should report suspicious activity to authorities immediately by calling 911. Geneva Police asks residents not to use the City's online "Report A Concern feature," as it should only be used to inform police of non-emergency situations.
