GENEVA, IL — Geneva's Western Avenue railroad crossing will close to traffic Friday while crews perform maintenance.

The crossing will close starting at 9 a.m. Friday and is expected to reopen three days later, by the morning of March 20. Although the crossing will be repaired, commuter trains will continue to operate on their regular schedule, officials said.

Union Pacific, which is conducting the maintenance, placed signage along the tracks to alert drivers of the upcoming closure and detour route, which will direct drivers heading north on Western Avenue to turn west on Fabyan Parkway, north on Randall Road, east on Kaneville Road, south on Gary Lane and east on South Street.
