
Do you think trick-or-treating in Geneva is the best?
Editors at The Daily Meal recently ranked the 25 best spots in the U.S. for trick-or-treating and Geneva received an impressive ranking at No. 7 on the list. Among the reasons for picking Geneva: its Halloween Weekend Carnival, which includes rides, games and refreshments, and its downtown trick-or-treating event, which is held on the Thursday before Halloween.
Elmhurst was the only other Illinois town to make the Daily Meal’s trick-or-treating list. Elmhurst was ranked at No. 23 on the list.

Factors, such as, crime rates in a town, the number of sex offenders in each municipality, scheduled community events and the town’s “walkability rating” were used to determine the best spots for trick-or-treating.
Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns said trick-or-treating in Geneva is the best and has been for years.

“When I was growing up here, my friends and I would walk all over Pepper Valley and the west side, and then we’d take our bikes and trick-or-treat around the high school and the homes around downtown,” Burns told the newspaper.
The “walkability” factor is a big plus for those trick-or-treating in the town, Burns said.
“We’re a community of neighborhoods that are all connected in numerous ways,” Burns told the Chicago Tribune. “With some planning and a lot of stamina, children and their parents can hit more than 7,000 homes without crossing more than a couple of large streets.”
