Geneva Woman Dies Days After Car Crash: Kane Sheriff

The woman, 20, was hospitalized with multiple traumatic injuries after a car crashed into a utility pole.

GENEVA, IL — The 20-year-old Geneva woman who was a passenger in a car that crashed into a utility pole on April 4 succumbed to her injuries, according to officials at the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

Sandra Sanchez died at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove Sunday evening, officials said in an update on Monday.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office was called to the collision near the 42W300 block of Ke De Ka Road in Sugar Grove Township at about 8 a.m. April 4. A 2014 Honda Civic was headed west on Ke Da Ka Road when the tires on the passenger side hit the curb. The driver attempted to correct the car but continued off the roadway and hit a utility pole with the front passenger side, officials said.

The 19-year-old driver from Batavia was taken to Mercy Hospital in Aurora with minor injuries, while Sanchez was hospitalized with multiple traumatic injuries, Patch reported.

Police did not say what caused the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
