Halloween Week Weather Forecast

Find out how warm it is expected to be on Halloween.

Fret not. It’s not likely your jack-o’-lanterns will look like the ones pictured above this year.

The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures reaching a high near 56 degrees on Saturday with a chance of showers throughout the day. For those heading out to Halloween events on Friday, temperatures will reach a high of 54 degrees in Chicago with mostly sunny skies.

Temps in the 50s is pretty normal for the Chicago area for Halloween.

Climate data collected by the National Weather Service from 1873 through 2014 shows the most Halloweens--46 of them---had temps in the 50s. There were 36 Halloweens with temps in the 60s, 35 with temps in the 40s, 19 with temps in the 70s, 6 with temps less than 40 degrees and one warm Halloween that had temperatures over 80 degrees.

Last year, Chicago saw a high temperature of 47 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Here is a look at the forecast for the rest of the week in Chicago:

  • Monday: Sunny, with a high near 62 and south/southeast winds at 5 to 10 mph. Monday night could see a low of 49 degrees.
  • Tuesday: Showers likely, mainly after 2 p.m. and the chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Mostly cloudy skies with a high near 59 and east winds at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. More showers likely Tuesday night and a low near 53.
  • Wednesday: Showers with a chance of precipitation at 90 percent. High near 60. Showers likely Wednesday night with a low around 43.
  • Thursday: A chance of showers, mainly before 8 a.m. Partly sunny skies with a high near 52. There is a slight chance of showers Thursday night with a low around 41.
