Kane Co. Warehouse Doubled As Marijuana Grow House: Police

Maskin Gokhman has been arrested for operating the marijuana grow house in Elburn.

KANE COUNTY, IL – A 36-year-old Grayslake man is accused of operating a marijuana grow operation in Kane County. Authorities arrested Maskin Gokhman, of the 1500 block of Meadow View Lane in Grayslake, at about 12 p.m. on March 6 outside a warehouse on West Nebraska Street in Elburn. The Kane County Sheriff's was monitoring the warehouse for suspicious activity when a deputy made contact with Gokhman while he was leaving the property Tuesday, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

Gokhman was taken into custody since he had two warrants out for his arrest–a warrant out of McHenry County on a DUI charge and one out of Lake County for a violation of an order of protection, authorities said.

A Kane County Sheriff's Office K9 officer assisted at the scene and found 1/2-pound of marijuana inside Gokhman's vehicle, according to the press release.

Authorities then obtained a warrant and searched the warehouse at 250 West Nebraska Street in Elburn. Inside the building they found an indoor cannabis grow operation that included about 200 marijuana plants at various stages of growth. Detectives also found about 68 pounds of harvested cannabis, which had a street value of about $150,000.

Gokhman has since been charged with manufacture or delivery of more than 5000 grams of cannabis, a class X felony; possession of more the 5000 grams of cannabis, a class 1 felony; production or possession of more than 200 cannabis plants, a class 1 felony; manufacture or delivery of more than 30 but less than 500 grams of cannabis, a class 3 felony; and possession of more than 100 grams but not more than 500 grams, a class 4 felony. He is also wanted on a warrant for DUI out of McHenry County and a warrant for violation of an order of protection out of Lake County.
