Kane County Board Questioning Coroner's Credit Card Use
The County Board is now looking into whether they need to evaluate the county's credit card policy.
The Kane County Board is questioning purchases made by Coroner Rob Russell on his county-issued credit card, and is looking into whether they need to re-evaluate their credit card policy, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Russell has been working with the county board to get nearly $11,000 in unpaid bills taken care of and used his credit card to cover $6,000 of that.
“This was making sure that people got paid,” Russell said, adding it is unfair to put vendors in the middle. “We’ve never abused it.”
Board members are upset Russell did not follow the typical approval process--he is supposed to use his P-card for county-approved purchase, according to the article.
