Kane County Sheriff's Bloodhound Dies Shortly After Retiring

KANE COUNTY, IL — Erin, the Kane County Sheriff's Office's retired bloodhound, died shortly after her retirement, officials announced Monday.

"Erin was a long time member of KCSO and had many great finds of missing and endangered people," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook.

Messages and condolences from residents across Kane County poured in on Facebook following the announcement. About five hours in, the post received more than 40 comments.

"Godspeed Erin! I hope you find nothing but amazing scents over that Rainbow Bridge!" one person wrote.

"Thank you for your service and bravery," another person said. "Sorry for your loss."

"Thank you for your service Erin!" someone commented. "May you Rest In Peace! What a beauty she was."

KCSO officials didn't respond to Patch's request for comment at the time of publication.
