Man, 25, Struck By Metra Train Dies: Geneva Police

The man was hit along the Union Pacific-West railway about a half-mile west of the Western Avenue grade crossing, police said.

GENEVA, IL — A man, 25, died Thursday after he was struck by a Metra train about a half-mile west of the Western Avenue grade crossing in Geneva, police said.

The man, whose identity has not been revealed, was reportedly alone at the time of the incident. Investigators do not suspect foul play.

First responders were dispatched at 6 a.m. to help the Metra Police Department with the investigation. Geneva police met with the train conductor and located the man near the Union Pacific-West railway tracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release.

Metra police and the Kane County Coroner's Office are investigating the incident. The man's family is still being notified, officials said.

The stopped Metra train did not block the Western Avenue crossing, but all inbound and outbound trains were temporarily halted, Patch reported.
