Standoff In Geneva Ends After Man Walks Out Of Home: Police

The man was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. The incident lead to street closures near the 600 block of Nichole Lane.

GENEVA, IL — A man who barricaded himself inside a home in the 600 block of Nichole Lane in Geneva Monday night walked out on his own and was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation, police said.

The incident Monday night drew a large police presence to the area surrounding the home. The Geneva Police Department and several other agencies first responded to the residence on the city's east side at around 7:45 p.m.

The man, who was not injured, voluntarily walked out his home at 10 p.m. He was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva for further evaluation, according to a news release from the Geneva Police Department.

The man was the only person inside the home during the incident, and there was no indication he was a threat to others, authorities said Monday night. Police also said it did not appear he was a threat to others.

Streets in the area were blocked off while the man was barricaded inside his home, and neighbors were instructed to stay inside as a precaution.
