Man Seriously Injured in Crash in Rural Kane County

The crash occurred on Route 47 south of Elburn Tuesday night.

A 39-year-old man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries during a one-vehicle crash south of Elburn Tuesday night.

Reese Bernier, of Earlville, was taken to Delnor Hospital following the crash at 8:04 p.m. on Route 47 near the intersection of Kenmar Drive in unincorporated Blackberry Township, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office press release.

A preliminary investigation showed the crash occurred when a 2006 work truck was traveling south on Route 47 and left the roadway on the west side of Route 47. When the vehicle began to maneuver back onto the road, it began to roll and Bernier was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash and have not determined if drugs, alcohol or texting were involved. No tickets have been issued at this time.
