Manhole Replacements Will Cause Lane Closures In Downtown Geneva

There will also be limited access to Third Street and reduced parking near the intersection with State Street for more than a week.

GENEVA, IL — Four sanitary manholes will be replaced in three areas of Geneva starting Monday, and the construction is expected to impact traffic for about a week, Geneva officials said.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday on two manholes at the intersection of State and Third streets. This will require shifting lane closures on State Street, limited access to Third Street and reduced parking near the intersection for more than a week if weather permits, the city said in a news release.

Starting Nov. 10, construction will start at the intersection of State Street and Grant Avenue, where traffic lanes in each direction will be closed for almost a week. More work is expected to start at Richards and Union streets on Nov. 11.

Construction and concrete curing at all sites is expected to be done Nov. 16 but could take longer if the weather doesn't cooperate.

City staff has also contracted out to televise and line various sections of sanitary and storm sewers in Geneva, which is necessary to prevent infiltration and keep sanitary and sewer lines in proper working condition, the city said.
